Missions

Middleburg United Methodist Church is active in local, national and international missions.

Our church works with other churches in the Virginia Conference by supporting a missionary in Cambodia.  Clara Mridula Biswas is assigned with other workers in the area of Phnom Penh to improve the lives of impoverished children, many of whom are homeless and live in the street. This year we contributed financially to assist Balticoloa, Sri Lanka, a fishing village.  When the tsunami struck, they watched their livelihood wash out with the tide.  Today they have a financial commitment from The United Methodist Church to help provide food and restore their boats and nets.

In the near future we will become involved with the App
alachia Service Project providing funds for food and heat to one of the poorest areas of our country.

Clara Mridula Biswas, Missionary

The United Methodist Church

Clara was born in Barisal, Bangladesh, holds a BA degree in Social Science and a diploma in Rural Leadership and Development from the Asian Rural Institute in Tochigi-Ken, Japan.  She is a member of the Church of Bangladesh.  Clara is available for Covenant Relationship support in Northern Illinois Annual Conference and Virginia Annual Conference.

Clara describes her ministry as "showing Christian love and sharing the Gospel, working for peace and justice and carrying each others burdens on our shoulders.  Many of my students and community members became Christian through my work."
